What affects the cost of a glass balustrade?
Post and clamp systems are the most cost-effective option. Frameless channel systems cost more because the glass is thicker and the base channel has to be structurally fixed. Run length, the number of corners and how easily we can get equipment to the site all play a part too. We will price both systems so you can compare.
Do I need planning permission for a glass balustrade?
For most domestic installations, no. Balustrades forming part of a stair, landing or raised deck fall under Building Regulations rather than planning permission, and our glass meets BS EN 12150 for toughened safety glass. If your property is listed or in a conservation area, check with your local authority first.
How long does installation take?
Fitting a typical domestic staircase or garden balustrade takes a single day. Lead time from survey to installation is usually up to four weeks, depending on glass and steel supplies.
Can I buy supply only and fit it myself?
Yes. We can supply the products for a DIY installation if you prefer, although we cannot guarantee the installation or the sizing where we have not measured and fitted it ourselves.
What guarantee do you offer?
All of our glass and steel installations carry a 10 year guarantee. Steel fabrication is handled in house through our sister company NE Fabrication Solutions.
